On-Lot Septic Systems

Wastewater Self Reporting Wastewater Devise Management
If you are the owner of a property that currently is served by an on-lot wastewater disposal system, you are directed to register with Bethlehem Township. Most likely you are visiting this page because you have been notified to register your devise with Bethlehem Township, and participate in a mandatory operations and maintenance program. Depending on the type of on-lot septic system you are using, Bethlehem Township will provide you with the timed intervals to inspect and maintain in order to comply with municipal, state (PADEP), and federal (EPA) law. IMPORTANT ON-LOT MANAGEMENT: PLEASE HAVE YOUR INSPECTION FORM AND HAULER RECEIPT AVAILABLE BEFORE STARTING REGISTRATION

In our ongoing mission to improve the Waters of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, protect natural resources, and the public’s health and safety, Bethlehem Township in accordance with guidelines developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) has instituted an On-Lot Disposal System management program. This page provides the connection point to self-register your disposal system and provide the required inspection reporting.

This program requires OLDS management reporting every three (3) years. In order to document compliance of these regulations, Bethlehem Township will notify you the preceding year (12 months in advance) of the scheduled end of cycle year. Our hope is that property owners will elect to more frequently have their septic tank cleaned using intervals of every two years. We have found that bi-annual cleaning provides the best protection from potential drain field failure. We encourage you to read the provided information, and seek out additional information to fully understand the value of septic tank cleaning and inspection. OLDS management can save property owners thousands of dollars in repair and tens of thousands in full system replacement costs.

FIRST CYCLE EXEMPTION FROM OLDS MANAGEMENT: If proof of cleaning and inspection can be provided which has occurred between July 1st 2022 and July 1st 2023, you will have fulfilled your OLDS cycle maintenance obligation through July 1st 2023. However, self-registration is still required by July 1st 2022.
