This section is primarily responsible for building, zoning, and fire prevention permit review, issuance and inspection. Key functions include enforcement of the commercial & residential building code(s), the property maintenance code, commercial fire & life safety inspections and responding to resident & business concerns.
Bethlehem Township adopted the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and adheres to the 2018 International Codes, as well as the referenced standard ICC ANSI A117.1.2009 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. The Township also enforces the 2009 Edition of the IFC with adopted ordinance.
When is a Permit Required?
The UCC as well as the ordinances of Bethlehem Township requires permits for many types of projects. Activities requiring permits include:
